Dr June Smith LLB/B.A.(Hons)- Principal

June is a Principal in Argyle Lawyers Pty Ltd in its Melbourne office and consults to the financial services industry on issues relating to governance, professional ethics, corporations law, compliance and alternative dispute resolution.
She has PhD in Law from Victoria University.

Her thesis was titled "Professionalism and Ethics in Financial Planning" and was one of the first research projects of its type in Australia. The study examined the factors that influence ethical decision making within financial services organizations, including the cognitive ethical reasoning of financial planners and compliance managers in the provision of financial advice to Australian consumers and the influence of ethical climate and culture and leadership on decision making within financial planning firms.

Dr. Smith is the Chair of the Financial Planning Association of Australia’s Disciplinary Appeals Tribunal; a member of the FPA’s Conduct Review Commission and its Professional Conduct Committee. She is also a member of the Lexis Nexis Financial Services Editorial Committee.

She is the co-author of the FPA's CFP 1 program titled ‘Ethics, Professionalism and Professional Behaviour and the author of many other professional standards in use across the financial services industry.

Dr. Smith writes for numerous National Financial Services education providers on professional ethics and professional standards issues and is a regular speaker at financial services conferences.
